How to measure your laptop
To know whether your laptop will fit, you’ll need to measure it.
IMPORTANT: Use the MAX DIMENSIONS to determine whether your laptop will fit. Laptop size, which is based on screen size, is not a good indicator of actual device dimensions.
- Measure your laptop’s width and height from edge to edge.
- Measure thickness at the thickest point (often near the hinge).
- If you use a hard-shell case, measure with it on.
- Compare your measurements to 18.7" x 12.8" x 2" maximum.
Tip: For heavy loads, use the chest strap to stabilize the carry and keep weight from pulling on your shoulders.

Contruction of the bag is great as I have learned to expect from the brand, it can easily fit a 17" laptop and will allow you to carry confortably.

Not great, not terrible.
I bought this bag because it's listed as a 42L bag capable of holding up to an 18.4" laptop. So that should work for my brand new MSI GT77 Titan 17.3" laptop, right? Wrong.
The laptop compartment can't even be called a compartment. It's a pocket. The zippers don't go all the way down the side like the main compartment does. This means that you have to slide your laptop in horizontally or you'll just struggle endlessly.
Speaking about the "compartment," it's nice and felt lined. However, this is actually a terrible idea. While it will prevent scratches, it offers zero stability. You know what that means? It means everything you put in the main compartment is now crushing the laptop. Oh, and you can forget about loading up the main compartment before putting the laptop in. Because the walls of the laptop pocket are so flexible, it will be pushing into the area the laptop is supposed to be, preventing you from actually putting the laptop where it belongs.
The main compartment didn't live up to my expectations either. The headphone "sling" is useless. Sure, it holds your headphones nicely, but then if you put anything else on top if it, it crushes the headphones. You'd probably be better off loading up the compartment with everything else and just tossing the headphones in last.
The keyboard "sleeve" is useless. Too big to fit a normal keyboard, too small for a fancy gaming one. It's more like a diaper or one of those sumo wrestler outfits. Kind of like a sling. Doesn't keep the keyboard stationary at all. More like a pocket with the sides cut out.
The other pockets are functional if not clear what should go in them. The main compartment is definitely roomy with the caveat that whatever you put in there is taking away from the space the laptop goes into, so keep that in mind.
Overall, this bag is disappointing. It fits my laptop and just barely and that's the only reason I haven't returned it. I can also toss a bunch of other junk inside the bag and it all fits. Great. Except it doesn't protect the laptop and I have to pray every time I try to zip up the corners that they don't bust. After seeing these poor design choices, I will never buy another Everki bag again.

the padding at the bottom is a bit lackluster and can slide around a bit. the rain cover in the secret pocket seems to help but if that’s not there then… it could be bad. so maybe more padding

This backpack is amazing. The quality is the best I have ever got with a bag. I have made this brand a lifetime choice now. The bag has a lot of space. I have a 17.3 laptop, and It fit easily. There is also a lot of space to put laptop accessories. It's a bit pricey, but would 100% recommend this.

As a student I wanted a sturdy backpack that was large enough for my 18 inch laptop, I did some research and decided to purchase an Everki Beacon. It went on to last me 8 years through University and I took it on several trips abroad, it carried everything I needed, camera gear and all. Sunshine or rain (yes it even had a raincoat), it kept my electronics safe.
Recently from normal wear and tear (again after 8 years, loading it up to over 25 lbs. regularly) I wanted to have it refreshed, because I didn’t feel the need for a new one. I got in contact with customer service to find out what could be done.
A few emails later, I got a new replacement/upgrade into the ContemPRO 117, my new favorite backpack. The design is well thought out, and it’s well padded like my previous Everki Beacon.
I can safely say I am an Everki customer for life. Great products and great customer service is what I look for and I found it with Everki. The tag attached to their products that says “Limited Lifetime Warranty”, actually means something.
For anyone on the fence about an Everki purchase, I’d say with confidence, go right ahead, you won’t regret it.
To Paul and the rest of the team, a big thank you and keep up the great work.
